The 32nd FAIM International Conference, FAIM'2023, is the milestone of 32 years of continuous presence in the international manufacturing scene, returning to Porto, Portugal, where it took place for the first time in 2013.

The theme of FAIM'2023 is, Manufacturing: establishing bridges towards a more sustainable future, pointing to its thematic pillars underpinned by automation and intelligence streams:
  • Automation and robotics
  • Manufacturing processes and optimization
  • Machines and mechanical design
  • Advanced materials processing and characterization
  • Cutting-edge measurement techniques
  • Innovative maintenance
  • Lean, Kaizen, Quality and Productivity
  • Sustainability
  • Human factors in manufacturing
  • Logistics
  • Intelligent services
  • IoT and Cloud Computing in manufacturing and services.

All accepted papers presented at FAIM 2023 will be published in Lecture Notes in Mechanical Engineering (Springer), indexed by Scopus, with 8-page lenght. Depending on the subject and content, Authors will be invited to extend their papers to submit in a later phase to reputed journals such as Robotics and Computer-Integrated Manufacturing (Elsevier), International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology (Springer), Journal of Mechanical Engineering and Science (SAGE), Journal of Testing and Evoluation (ASTM), International Journal of Computer Integrated Manufacturing (Taylor and Francis), Sustainability (MDPI), Technological Sustainability (Emerald), Journal of Innovation Management, or FME Transactions, following special "fast-track" reviewing process or inclusion in Special Issues (check "Participation" for further details). Other reputed journals will be contacted to evaluate extended papers, such as Journal of Manufacturing Processes (ELSEVIER), Machines (MDPI), Materials (MDPI), and so on
